To get the best out of Nigerian music you need to know the following things - Can you understand it? Is the quality good or is it just a fake copy? Is the message right?
Some Nigerian songs are in the local languages and you can hardly understand it if you don't understand the language for instance Yoruba or Hausa if you only understand Igbo. If a song is entirely in Yoruba and you don't understand any word of it, it's hard for you to understand and gain anything from it naturally unless you are just shaking for the beats. Also you need to be able to get a sample of the music you are about to acquire. Some music vendors allow you listen to the song you want to buy before buying it and so even if it's ins an overt market place , sellers can play the song for you to listen to and tyou'd be able to judge if this is the best sound you want or is it a fake. It can be disastrous if you buy songs offline or online without knowing what you are buying unless you really trust the vendor for the right quality.
The third factor is the message. Some Nigerian songs have it and some don't just have the right message and it would be good if you can filter out the ones you think are right and the ones that are not.
